The old days…. Naive question but relevant for moving forward
Trust is a lovely but overated asset. There are always people small numbers maybe who for either the best or worst motives will a use a trust. Just because a sail is produced by a rsputable sailmaker doesnt meant that an unscrupulous person cant alter it.. Measuring is a nessecary evil, even on our little boats and on full size yachts and their sails

The old days…. Naive question but relevant for moving forward
As a measurer, I o viously measure sails from many different sail makers, very rarely are they out of class especially in the IOM class but I still measure them to the best of my ability and the commonest error is in the numbering, but I can appreciate that to have sails certified by the manufacturers would not be feasable bearing in mind the relatively small numbers involved the addtional costs involved would make the costs involved in measuring look miniscule, stick with a system that works and is accountable

As I see it if you are replacing the hull then that hull number is now defunct so why cant you use that number which you already have on the new hull but the true answer must come from the rebistrar and the MYA TO

Best cord for rigging lines?
I exclusively use fishing line for sheeting systems standing rigging and running rigging varying from 30pound for sheeting on smaller boats topping lifts etc,80 pound line for winch lines backstays, and a 300 pound line for shrouds on bigger boats A class and 6 metres for shrouds I normally prestretch by hanging a sledge hammer on the shrouds for a week or so

Lifting Cradle
There are a few that use cradles, seem to be where they have a wet Launch, the difficulty I have found is that on a windy day they can be difficult to keep in the cradle, I would suggest you get a lifting eye sorted, come up from the lead if necessary through the hatch to an eye use different length hooks depending on water level

Removing Sail Numbers
for the sharpie numbers I use denatured alcohol from amazon and cotton wool balls wipe gently changing cotton wool regulary, if vynl type numbers gently warm with hair dryer and whilst sail is on a firm surface pull number gently at an angle very close to the sail surface whilst holding sail as flat as you can, be gentle
