  1. Mmm. That sounds like good news for 65s. We’re up to V3 in DF95s, do you happen to know if these are equally exempt from the issue?
  2. Sound advice. Many thanks

I’ve read that it is advisable to seal deck eyes on new hulls to prevent potential water ingress. Presumably this is best done by removing the deck eyes first? Is there any danger that this might weaken the grip on the threads when reinserting? Should the deck eyes be reinserted before the seal is dry? Any and all advice appreciated David

  5. That’s very helpful, John. There is no mast ram on a DF95, nor shrouds, but I understand the principles behind your comments, which coincide with advice I have received privately. David
  6. Many thanks!

I’ve read that, in light airs, it is recommended that the main boom should be sheeted in a little more inboard. What is the logic behind that and should there be a commensurate adjustment inboard on the jib boom? The whole idea seems contrary to the “if in doubt let it out” principle. David
  8. Many thanks for all your advice. The only solution was a new sail servo, in the end. I was concerned to sail her again on Friday. B rig conditions, cold northerly. Would I get water in again? Happily not. I took extra care when sealing the hatch and remained dry for the whole evening.
  9. Ok, thanks I will try a spare receiver that I have first. They’re cheaper!
  10. It’s just a standard DF95 digital servo winch. The problem only arose once I discovered some water ingress. Could that have caused the servo to misbehave? Permanently? Thank you, John, for your input but it was a bit too technical for an amateur like me. David
  11. Sorry if this has been covered before/elsewhere, but what does it mean if my drum rocks back and forth a few mm without me touching the control stick? What might have caused this? Many thanks David

  13. Can anyone identify this design of IOM please? The sails are signed, dated 1993

Sounds good. There does not seem to be any need for a specialist paint, so it’s an easy fix. We now launch and recover from a floating pontoon so, once the bulb is restored, it will never touch bottom again. ‘Bye wellies!!

For clarity, I’m really asking what sort of paint would you use and would a metal primer be required (once you’ve waded out to it)?

Hi I’ve seen this somewhere, but can I find it? Sailing my DF95 in a gravel pit the ballast comes in for a bit of hammer when coming ashore. Does anyone have any tips for getting it back into pristine condition - within class rules? David
