2026 Yearbook Announcement
Dear MYA Member,
The MYA Council has taken the decision to suspend the printing of a physical yearbook for 2026.
Despite the council members acknowledging and understanding that the long-standing publication of the yearbook has been a treasured item for many members, the transition to a digital world, increase in postage costs and duplication of information on the MYA website now makes the printed version unsustainable. The decision would have been even harder, were it not for the fact that finding a volunteer to collate the contents, deal with the print house and organise the postage has also been impossible to find.
The final “nail in the coffin” for the current version is the postage cost, which is now standing at £2.25 per yearbook, which alongside the printing costs gives an overall cost of £6200.00 for the 2025 yearbook. Circa 70% of which is the postage element.
Although the end of an era for a published item, the council is very keen to produce a review of the year, and look ahead for the next year booklet, and have decided for 2026 that this will be an online and downloadable item. The format of this has yet to be finalised but it will have links to areas of the website that are currently duplicated in the yearbook.
I hope that you understand our position and support our reasons for the change.
If anyone wishes to assist in the compilation of this review book or digital publishing, please contact Jen Hand or me.
The MYA council continues to support our clubs and members and will do so as part of its elected remit as far as is reasonably practicable.
Regards
Darin
MYA Vice Chair
