Digital Communications Officer – Volunteer Opportunity

At the AGM in November 2025, Austin Guerrier, our Digital Communications Officer (DCO), gave notice that he will be stepping down at the 2026 AGM. As many of you know, Austin has been instrumental in driving the MYA’s digital evolution over recent years, and we are extremely grateful for his dedication and contribution.

Finding a replacement will not be easy, so we are now inviting members to step forward and volunteer for this important role.

Over the past months, we have worked closely with Austin to streamline and separate elements of the DCO role. Key changes include:

  • Appointment of a new Membership Secretary, now preparing for the 2027 membership year
  • Responsibility for posting Notices of Race and race entries returning to the Race Team
  • Austin remaining in a backroom capacity to manage the MYA website infrastructure and IT support

The Role Moving Forward

The revised DCO role will now focus on content and communication, including:

  • Publishing race reports, results, and images
  • Managing and updating website content
  • Uploading Council reports
  • Maintaining knowledge base articles
  • Managing and updating the Forum
  • Promoting the sport through engaging online content

Austin will provide initial guidance on using the website and will continue to offer behind-the-scenes IT support where needed.

Who We’re Looking For

This role would suit someone who:

  • Enjoys being involved and connected with the MYA community
  • Has an eye for interesting stories, news, and information
  • Has basic IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, or Apple equivalents)
  • Has a little time to contribute regularly

Why It Matters

As the world continues to move increasingly towards digital communication, this role is vital to ensuring the continued visibility, engagement, and success of the MYA.
