Race report: Shearwater Open for 6M on 13th April – EDCS 1

This year’s Shearwater Open attracted 12 entrants which included 6 visitors if you include those who entered as Norwich club members. 2 entries were from Harwich MBC.

Vinnie was RO and he set a course with the windward mark to the West with a run to a l’ward gate. The second lap included a wing mark to the South and the gate marks were both rounded to port. The breeze was a fairly steady 2-3.

This worked well until the lunch break when the breeze swung to the East and became a bit erratic in direction. This resulted in some course and mark changes.

Fortunately, the rain which was forecast for the afternoon, held off until we finished the racing.

13 races were completed and John Hanton took the win with 23 points followed by Duncan Ellis and Mark Holt with 32 and 34 points.
