M&S DF 95 TT Final Event 2026

at Kensington Gardens Round Pond

Race Report

8 skippers arrived for the final event of the Metropolitan and Southern District TT series for DF 95’s at the Round Pond in Kensington Gardens. After a brief rain delay, PRO, Ian Gill set up a windward leeward course starting from close to the Southern launching area with a control area along the Western bank of the pond.

In light and shifty conditions, the first race got underway. Nigel Barrow, recovering from an unplanned pre-race paddle in the pond led from start to finish and pulled out a considerable lead over the fleet. Colin Harper finished second with Mike Barnes third.

Races 2 and 3 were won by Colin and Andrew Granger with Nigel finishing 2nd and third, the two results he would eventually discard in what proved to be a very dominant performance as he won races 4 through 8.

The day was wet and after eight races it was decided that a slightly early finish was the order of the day. At the prize giving in the clubhouse, The race team of Ian Gill and Martin Garnett were thanked by event winner Nigel. Big thanks also go to Jim LaRoche for organizing the TT series this year which has seen 90 different skippers competing across the events throughout 2026. Hopefully the series will be repeated in 2027 and go from strength to strength.
