Notice of Race – Vane Marblehead Team Racing Open – 7th/8th March 2026

Gosport Model Yacht & Boat Club is delighted to host a Team Racing event featuring Vane “M” boats on the weekend of 7–8 March 2026.

In recent years, interest in this class has grown, largely thanks to enthusiasts restoring vintage Marbleheads and embracing the unique challenge of vane sailing. Unfortunately, few clubs in the UK still organize vane sailing events, especially for the Marblehead class. That’s why we’re thrilled that the GMYBC committee has made the club available for this two-day Team Racing event.

Boats entered will be randomly grouped into pairs, with each team consisting of one Vintage boat and one Modern/Classic boat. The combined scores of each pair will determine the event winners. Full details about the classification of Vintage, Classic, and Modern boats can be found in the NOR.

If you want to help keep this event as part of the GMYBC annual sailing programme, please show your support. GMYBC has gone above and beyond to accommodate this event, since the “M” class isn’t traditionally recognized by the club. We are very grateful for their willingness to host in 2026 and hope it can become a recurring event. A successful turnout will increase our chances of making this an annual fixture.
