MYA Scottish District Inaugural R6M Aubery Open, 19th July 2025, Largs Model Boat Club
Saturday 19th July saw competitors and spectators converge on Largs with visitors from Ayr Bay, Paisley, and Greenock clubs. This marked Largs Model Boat Club’s first MYA-sanctioned event – the very first R6M Aubery Open. Largs now hosts Scotland’s largest R6M fleet featuring fourteen yachts spanning a variety of designs and ages.
A two-heat race format with nine skippers competed over a gruelling ten races to finally determine the Aubery Open Champion of 2025. Congratulation to Brendan Bocker sailing his recently restored Revival with David Smith sailing his Octavia coming a close second place. We were honoured and delighted by a surprise appearance from legendary Grand Master Mr. Hugh Shields whose presence added an extra touch of distinction to our debut event.
