MYA Sail Measurer Course

An MYA Sail Measurement Course has been approved by the Royal Yachting Association for use to appoint MYA Sail Measurers. This will be ready to roll out in the near future.

Appointment as a MYA Sail Measurer follows successful completion of three stages:

• Study of the course material
• Demonstration of the candidate’s knowledge by answering some questions chosen at random from a larger bank of questions
• Measurement of one of several sample sails in the presence of an experienced sail measurer

The only previous route to become a Sail Measurer, by attending a RYA Sail Measurer Course, remains open if candidates prefer it. Look for details of the day-long courses on the RYA’s website. The cost of the course and travelling expenses can be claimed from the MYA.

Existing sail measurers needing to re-validate their qualification are free to use whichever route they prefer.
