New Forum Layout

Featured Replies

Congrats to Austin and the MYA,

I like the new layout of this forum. I havent gone round all the pages yet but first impressions are very positive.

If there are any new features, please can someone provide a brief discription of the changes.

Regards

JT👍

Hmm, I can't agree John, It's no longer easy to scan down the list of sub-forums and see which ones have new content

What about the look now, its half and half. To see new content quickly you just use "My Activity Streams", or the Unread Content icon top right. 😉

Also now you can choose Dark Mode if you prefer, looks nice imho, controls bottom left in the footer.

Much prefer this layout on my smallish iPhone. Haven’t tried desktop yet.

That's what I'm finding too. Admittedly I've only been the new website a couple of times, so maybe not got dialled into it yet, but it doesn't so far feel as easy to quickly see where there's new posts

The pictures against the sections are nice, but make the whole page longer to go down thru.

Where there's a section panel e.g. 'Class Chat - IOM', could a "New" tag be put on topics? (Or Bold vs. Normal on the subject)

Edit: 'new' for me, that is

I'm now away from home for the day and decided to browse on my phone... It doesn't look like the platform software automatically deals with the auto switch from landscape to portrait on the switch of device. The phone is even worse as you have to scroll right as well as down. As someone who has been involved, would it have been possible to beta release to some testers before going live? I would certainly have volunteered to be involved...

Yes, that might be it, tho it means choosing it first off on opening the page. It can't be everything perfect to everyone I guess :)

Thanks Austin for all your work on the forum.

Trying to not pre-judge the updated forum.

First impressions are that I am finding it more difficult to follow what new postings there are on subjects that interest me. I eventually view all postings, even classes I don't sail as there can be crossover of information. i use to scroll down the old forum clicking on those new postings that were of main interest and then back to the less relevant, time allowing.

I tried it also on my phone (rarity for me to view this way) and currently my preference was for the previous version as a there now appears a lot of scrolling required.

I will give it sometime as usually I am not impressed when my companies 'DT' team update software. Eventually manage to find ways to operate it as required.

Regards Eric

Am I doing something wrong? I thought I'd posted a Classified Ad for an A Swing Rig under the Marblehed section a few days ago. I now I can't see it (or any otherr Ads) . Is it still there, and can others see it? Regards, David

Hi John,

Not sure why they move it but its in two places now, one for all content and the other is for individual forums.

Austin, thanks for all your work (and I know how much it is) in updating the platform. Removing the pictures is a good step. I do wonder about software developers are on when they make changes (like the mark all read one).

I mentioned it earlier on, but if you decide to do beta testing, happy to stand up as a volunteer

Appreciate that and will give you a shout if we need to 👍
