2022 MYA Scottish District IOM Championship, Forfar, 12th November 2022

The 2022 MYA Scottish District IOM Championship was organised by Aberdeen MYC and held at Forfar Loch on 12^th November. The forecast for the day of the event was for a light and variable wind. In fact, there was virtually no wind over the racecourse so the start of the first race had to be postponed. After a delay of half an hour a light easterly breeze did develop which allowed a short windward-leeward course to be set. For Race 2, the light breeze swung into the NE and the course was altered. The light wind then faded provoking a second postponement. Enough of a breeze filled-in to run Race 3 before an early lunch with everyone enjoying the excellent catering provided by Forfar Sailing Club. Unfortunately, after lunch the calm conditions continued and at 2pm unanimous agreement was reached to call it a day.

Despite the lack of wind competitors enjoyed close racing throughout the fleet. Tich Summers, with a perfect score of three wins, won the 2022 MYA Scottish District IOM Championship ahead of Richard Ennos who scored 3 second places. There was a tie for third place between Colin McGinnis and Malcolm Worsley.
