2020 Dinghy Show Spot the Buoy Winner

The 2020 RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show was a fantastic weekend for the MYA with great attendance on the stand and genuine interest in Radio Sailing from a wide variety of sailors and age groups, ranging from Team GBR sailors and coaches through regional sailing clubs to MYA members; the stand was never empty and the team worked hard.

For 2020 the MYA held a competition to encourage people to stop and chat about what we do, look at the boats and then take part in our “Spot the Buoy” competition for the chance to win a fully kitted out DF65.

The response to this was phenomenal, with over 500 Entries from a wide range of ages and backgrounds. The rules were very simple, look at the image and decide where you thought the centre of the buoy would be. The image we chose was selected because there could have been several logical places for the buoy to be, and as predicted there were many differing positions of crosses placed on the entry form. There can however only be one winner, and this was….. drum roll…. Oscar Dempsey from Chichester Sailing Club.

Oscar managed to get his cross placed only 2.38mm from the centre point.

Well done Oscar.

We were hoping to present the prize to Oscar but due to the current restrictions we are going to send the prize to him and have agreed with his Mum that they will send us a picture when he opens it.

Thanks to all who took part and we hope that you enjoyed taking part and looking at the boats on display.

For those who want to know how they got on, the actual position of the buoy is shown below:

Hopefully we can do the same competition for the 2021 Dinghy Show at its new venue. (Different photo !!)

Stay Safe.

Below is a video update from our happy winner Oscar, the stand is built, keel and rudder are in.
