Terry Rensch, a former Chair of the MYA is part of a team raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Society by taking part in the Great Canal Trail Canoe Adventure, from 11 August 2023 to 17 August 2023

The Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.

Our team will paddle in open Canadian style canoe the 60 miles along the great Caledonian canal From Fort William then into Loch Lochy then into Loch Oich along the white water rapids of the River Oich then back into the canal where we will enter via Fort Augustus the big one of Loch Ness after which we will enter the last section of the Great Caledonia canal and finish at Inverness

We intend to wild camp on route sleeping in tents cooking on gas stoves photographing the landscape and wildlife and generally chilling out in the evening.

our aim is to get a team of 12 together in 6 open canoes and plan to start the journey in mid August 2023. hard work good company great charity and we will have fun along the way

come and support us along the way we will be posting each leg of the trip on youtube facebook etc so you can help us along with your encouraging comments and be with us in the canoe via gopro.
