Nick Cowern – RIP

Nick was a long standing and incredibly valuable member of Levenhall Radio Yacht Club sailing IOMs and latterly DF65s. Within the club he was always there to help. If there was a task that needed doing – fixing the rescue boat, organising an open meeting, or liaising with local park rangers – he would volunteer and do the job with a will.
His quiet diplomatic skills were invaluable in holding the club together and ensuring that its members enjoyed their sailing. Nick was very handy, building a series of wooden IOMs and he also gave his time to serve as an IOM measurer. He very much enjoyed dealing in IOMs, always on the look out for a new yacht and maintaining an ever changing fleet of the latest IOM designs in his capacious garage.
For the MYA, he was equally generous with his time and effort, serving with distinction as IOM Class Registrar for many years. Records of his involvement with the class go back more than three decades, reflecting a remarkable and long-standing dedication to the class and its members.
Nick’s quiet contribution, to radio sailing and the enjoyment of those who participate in it, has been immense and he will be sadly missed.
