New Midland District IOM series co-ordinator required.

I have decided to stand down from this non-executive role following the conclusion of this years IOMMDWCS series that ends after round 5 at Lincoln RSC on 15th March 2026.

I have been involved in guiding the IOM series in our district since the inception of the champion skipper summer series in 1992 and most recently as the series trustee. However, as many of you know I have been having some mobility issues that has been limiting my attendance at events for the last two to three years and so I am not in touch as much as I once was in with the running of the events. So now seems the right time for me to hand the role onto a midland district IOM skipper who participates in the racing and events throughout the district.

What’s Involved?

The main part of the role is the production of the series scores as the events results come in. There is an Excel workbook that collates the results, allocates discards and ranks all entries, so you will need a little experience in using Excel. However, it does not take much time and only needs updating after each event has been completed, about eight times a season.

The next thing is the co-ordination of the events calendar with the district secretary to arrange host clubs for both the summer and winter series. There is a structure for this, and the dates are already in the calendar for 2026.

All the series details are here on the MYA website: https://www.mya-uk.org.uk/mya-districts/midlands-district/iom-champion-skipper-series/

Please contact me using the mya.md.webmaster email address to discuss any questions you may have about the role.

Following the conclusion of the IOM winter series there is a 3-month gap in the calendar before the re-commencement of the IOM summer series at Manor Park RSC on 28th June, so there is plenty of time for the new co-ordinator to become acquainted with the structure and scoring system.

The MD website etc.

The new IOM co-ordinator does not need to take on the task of updating the website , just send me information and I will do the updates, as I will be continuing in my role as Midland District Trustee and webmaster.

I have really enjoyed my time as the IOM co-ordinator travelling, meeting and racing against people that have become good friends over the years; however, the time is now right for the next generation of IOM skipper to take on the role and guide the future of IOM midland district sailing for the benefit of our skippers and clubs.
