As a thought here following on from the spacing, tying , etc I’ve recently starting using a piece of up to now discarded sticky deck patch (Dacron) paper backing under the knot pre super gluing. = no glue on mast & simply slides off glued knot.

And lots of filling and sanding.

Things went pear-shaped when I went to add the glass and carbon cloth to the inside of the hull. A test run was done with dry cloth in the vacuum bag but the sides of the hull bowed in a bit so that wasn’t an option. The backup plan was to do a hand layup and that led to too much epoxy and a lot of extra weight. The Divinycell core material is great stuff but this was just the wrong use of it. I made a test deck and transom with it and they came out light and strong. All that said, the hull is now a plug that molds will be made from. If you’re wanting to build a P4, I would suggest planking the hull with western red cedar or one of the other proven materials instead.

Use 15 lb dyneema. Tie a loop with reef knot. Using two pairs of pliers pull the ends. The dyneema will slip in a controlled manner. When at the desired size add an overhand knot and secure with glue. Mike Ure

Last time I spoke to Pepe Vinaxia earlier this year the order book for the GC24 was closed and there was a 30 month wait time for the last boat ordered. Even the NZ Downunder Venti now has a 9 month wait for a hull ............ As for ordering just the hull and appendages for the GC24 ..... its the only way they come 😀

That's an intriguing topic with some great points! I’ve recently taken on the role of Commodore at the Space Coast Model Sailing Club here in Florida. Our committee consists of just four members, including myself, and we have a wonderful membership of 31 people. Over the past few months, I’ve been focusing on my vision to modernize the club. This includes implementing some essential infrastructure changes, such as a new constitution, a club sailing policy, and negotiating a new agreement with the park authorities to secure the continual use of the lake. In just the first year, our committee has accomplished a lot, and I’ve been driving these efforts while always being open to new ideas and keeping our next goals in sight. Hopefully the membership will embrace the changes and allow me to continue in the role next year? JT

Should anyone speak with the supplier, it would be interesting to know the price of the IOM up to deck level only, no rigs or radio. JT

Good day I have a ‘lintel’ design, 2013 Dave Creed built One Metre. It has two rigs , the A rig has seen little or no use & a B rig which is in good condition. It has a new Kingmax sail winch & good working rudder servo. The boat has sat stored inside for a few years now. We checked it over & rerigged it a couple of weeks back so it is in a good sailable condition. Obviously you may well want to tweak it for more serious racing. Tried to order a Venti, 3 years and not taking orders ! So try and get one of these,no chance I think

I used a 3mm drill, taped it to the mast, and tied each in turn as I fed the sail up the mast. Time will tell if 3mm is too tight or not, maybe 4 or 5 would've been better. Good tip on the 'extra twist' 👍

Newish design, I believe - so might not be many around at all, let alone second hand? I am tho curious about the design progressions - of a single designer - from my Sedici into the Venti, and then into the GC24. [I guess "Ventiquattro" would have needed a longer foredeck for the label lol]. I think Venti, which seems a very decent design, has more beam than Sedici. Where has the GC24 taken things?

I don't have one out of a boat to pore over - just pic https://www.radiosailing.co.uk/df95-keel-box-and-mast-fitting-815-p.asp . So I was wondering whether the mast heel is held in a fixed position by the box (i.e. the deck gate alters the angle of a freely-stood mast), or if only the gate holds it (i.e. gate alters fore-aft position but not the angle)

Adding to Lester's comments, I use the shank of a drill bit as spacer, add an extra twist to the first part of the knot - the extra friction holds it in place while tying the second half.. Then a dab of crazy glue to lock the knot, and finally trim the ends. John
