Dave Hollom Designed International 14 Wins Worlds with Day to Spare!!
Many Model Yachtsmen will be aware of Dave Hollom’s success over many years as a designer of Vane & Radio yachts and he has had success in many National & even a World Championship.
But not everyone will be aware that for several years Dave has been an active Full Size designer. Beginning with a 12 metre for the 1987 Americas Cup, Dave has collaborated on other 12’s, on 6 Metres, Quarter Tonners and various dinghies, and now he has been well rewarded for his efforts.
Yesterday at the Royal Geelong Yacht Club South Australia, the team of Glen Truswell & Sam Pascoe won the International 14 World Championship with a day to spare with a score of 5 points from 6 races (they discarded a 2nd!)

The boat “Departure Design” was built on the Isle Of Wight by Gavin Tappenden of “Composite Craft”, Gavin is the son of well known Ryde MYC member Clive Tappenden.
So a double success for Model Yachting!!
Well done to Dave and Gavin for the design and build of this boat.
