DF95 Global Championship, Fleetwood MY&PBC 12-19th May 2023

Mick Chamberlain and Jen Hand of the Lincoln RSC have been at the 2023 DF95 Global Championships at Fleetwood RS&PBC, and Mick has been posting some thoughts to the Lincoln RSC WhatsApp group that he said we could share. So here are a few of his postings.

Arrived at the lake to see the preparation,  weather looks good.

Looking good, scrutineering gone OK for me, but not for some!!!!

Not great for two Lincoln members, at the moment, Top suit most of the day B suit for one disastrous race for Mick, but I think Jen faired quite well, we both could do a lot better, but the beats, three for each race were around 240 yards each so would suit younger legs ???? the social is fantastic, as you would expect, ???? that’s it for now.

Monday, you can’t see this, but it is blowing a gale, and set to increase pm.

OK, for me today it’s better, D fleet 3rd C fleet 4th, B fleet 7th missed promotion by 1place, legs are shot with all the fast walking, and partial running B rig at the moment but border line with C , Will let you know later how Jen is doing ???? ????

Jen is back in D fleet and just going on, still B rig,

Very cold in the North wind, great thanks for all the support????

Not sure how long this will last but had two goes in B.

Racing finished for the day, still on B and A seems quite a long way off, Jen is doing her best but finding it difficult to find a way out of D fleet but it’s all good fun.

Tuesday, cold and C rig some on B rig but stayed in B fleet for now.

Don’t hold your breath, but two races in A fleet, unscathed, it ain’t easy, and still on C Rig

Oops back in C fleet, 1 infringement in A fleet, and just sailed bad in B fleet, day off tomorrow, back at it on Thursday ????????

Today (Wed) is a Lay day, so off to Blackpool on the tram, slipped down the order yesterday, but feel great and ready for lighter winds on Thursday.

For those of you on Facebook John Taylor has been posting some reports.

I went up to Fleetwood for the day on Tuesday, and the weather was ideal with a good send or third suit blow coming from the top corner of the lake. Once wrapped up and a coffee in hand I went and spoke to a few of the skippers, meeting some old acquaintances and meeting some new ones. To give you a flavour of what it was like here are a few of my pictures.
