Vane A National Championship Results from Tuesday 2nd August 2016 – Day 3 second fleet day

Day 2 Update and positions from Mervyn.

The results show a just how close a contest the championship is proving – there are only 5.5 points between the first seven positions at the end of day 3!

By virtue of winning against Shaun Wyeth when they sailed together, Jacque Cook with crew Eric Meighen are currently at the top of the leader board. They had an excellent day’s sailing dropping only two points.   PRO Bill Green made the point that this was the first time in the long history of the Vane A Championship that a lady skipper has led the event.  Shaun and Graham won their other races and have a re-sail outstanding. Dave Geldard with crew CJ Vice demonstrated that they were a force to be reckoned with by winning all but one of their races, thereby increasing their overall points by more than three times. Derek Priestley with his joint skipper John Brooks got into the groove losing only one run and two beats.

Others, including Nigel Sharp, Alan Bell and David Bell with crew Margaret Bell built on their previous scores with a mixture of wins and losses.

At present Shaun and Graham are winning the highest points on the windward legs and Robert Bell is leading the highest points on the downwind legs.

All to play for as Championship sailing resumes on Thursday and continues into Friday.
