2026 MYA Met & Southern DF95 District Travellers 6 – Report and Results

Newhaven and Seaford Sailing Club (NSSC) – RCYP – Radio Controlled Yachts Piddinghoe – held their first Open event on Wednesday 16th September 2026 at their lake in Piddinghoe. The lake is nestled in a beautiful spot in the South Downs.

Twenty people turned up for the racing, 10 local club members and 10 visitors. Sixteen races were held across the day from 10am to 3pm.

The rain stayed away but the wind was challenging, changing direction a few times during the day.

Prizes went to first, second and third:

1st – Nigel Barrow – Datchet Radio Sailing

2nd – Dave Adams – East Kent Radio Sailing Club

3rd – John Derbyshire – Emsworth Radio Sailing

and one prize to the highest placed local (10th !): Alasdair Fortune – NSSC Radio Controlled Yachts Piddinghoe.

The team at NSSC thoroughly enjoyed hosting the event and all learned a great deal about how such an event works, it was certainly an eye opener for those of us who have not entered an Open before.
