2023 MD6MCS R1 Two Islands RYC race report

Saturday 1st July the first round of the Midland District 6 metre Champion Skipper series was raced at 2 Islands RYC, the day started off with a couple of early disappointments in that one skipper came without a mast for his boat, and another skipper only managed 1 race before having to retire with a problem with his winch lines.

This left us with 7 yachts racing, the weather was relatively kind to us and the wind was there in a varying strength all day. The direction was a bit of a compromise and caused us to set 2 different courses and still left the lake with some of 2 Islands infamous holes in the wind, but we persevered and ran 18 races, which were all sailed in good spirit with no protests and gentlemanly conduct throughout the day.

Most of the day it was a contest between Shaun Holbeche and Graeme Harris but toward the end Shaun dropped down the finishing order for a few races and Stephen Wheeler had a good series of finishes, but the final results show that Shaun had done enough with Graeme second and Stephen 3rd.
