2023-2024 IOMMDWCS R1 Manor Park RSC Results

This was the first round of the Midland District winter IOM Champion skipper events hosted by Manor Park RSC. The entry was quite low with a few of the original skippers having to withdraw in the week prior to the event. However Lincoln RSC had 5 skippers in the entry and were set to dominate the day. The low pressure front that travelled down from the north on the Saturday meant that the conditions were going to be cold, however overnight the wind changed direction and it became a very light southerly. With an early start Colin Walton and team soon had all the boats on the water, there were a couple of Alioth’s from the home club and Darin Ballington was sailing a Pikanto in place of his usual Britpop.

Rob Wilson (97) sailing his well sorted Britpop then went on to accumulate a run of first and second places that had the others playing catch up. Rob Wilson had 6 races wins to Peter Walters 4, with Dennis Walker, Tracey Ballington and Simon Richardson  also getting a bullet with 1 race win each. Despite the light winds Colin and team managed to get 13 races completed by the cut off time of 15:30. A full breakdown of the results is here: 2023-2024 IOMMDWCS R1

As mentioned earlier Lincoln RSC provided the majority of the fleet and the fact that they had the top 4 places shows what effect an active club scene can do to the quality of their overall fleet.

Thanks to Colin Walton, Garry Box for the pictures and the Manor Park RSC club for hosting the event.

The IOMMDWCS round 2 will be hosted by Lincoln RSC on 21st January 2024 and no doubt they will be fielding a strong team again, so if you want to join in keep and eye on the website for the NOR.
