2012 MYA R10r National Championships- Results

R10r National Championships – 9/10 June – POOLE (Longham) 2012

It was disappointing that we only had an entry of 7 for this event.  The weather was reasonably kind over the course of the two days and allowed 34 races to be sailed.  The Saturday proved quite exciting with skippers ending the day on 3^rd suit and some even went down to 4^th suit if they had such a suit.  The south westerly wind direction meant that the windward mark had to be set fairly far out, testing the skipper’s eyesight but all seemed to cope OK after a bit of practice.  The day finished at race 18 with Dave Andrews leading Peter Wiles by 6 points.

We gathered for day 2, and what a contrast.  The wind had moved 180^o, it  had died to the extent that top suit was sometimes not enough and it was dull and damp.  We were, however lucky with the weather and only suffered one short spell of heavier rain throughout the day.  Good eyesight remained a desirable factor but this time it was the leeward mark that was the most taxing.  Peter Wiles had a good day all round and managed to wrest the lead from Dave Andrews.

Peter managed to win 16 races, Dave Andrews achieved 9, Hugh McAdoo 4, Graham Fraser 3 and Lester Gilbert 2.
