10 Rater Ranking Events 1&2 22nd/23rd March 2025 – Report and Results

London Model Yacht Club

Light winds from the East greeted the competitors on Saturday morning and PRO, Colin Harper set a windward leeward course along the South bank of the Round Pond. Hugh McAdoo comfortably won the first race, setting the tone for a day of racing where he battled for the lead with Graham Bantock in most races.

At lunchtime, only one point separated the two with Local skipper, Andy Lunt a close third. The wind swung to the Southeast and the course was reset. McAdoo and Bantock continued to dominate the racing with Hugh, sailing a Spectre P8 MkII eventually winning by three points from Graham in his Diamond design. Andy had some electrical problems in the afternoon allowing James Stapleford in his Prism to pull through the fleet and into 3rd Place overall. Racing was curtailed at 2:30pm due to a thunderstorm.

Sunday saw a change in the race team and four new skippers who took advantage of the weekend being split into two separate ranking events. Charlie Clarke took over as PRO and set a course across the lake to continue with the windward leeward courses from Saturday but now with the even lighter breeze from the North East. Despite the large course and the light wind 12 races were completed and the day became the Graham

Bantock show who impressively dropped two second places as his discards. Hugh McAdoo and Colin Harper were the only other race winners on the day. John Andrews finished third on Sunday with his Prism and Andy Lunt and Barrie Martin completed the top five.

LMYC looks forward to welcoming teams to the Round Pond to compete in the De Quincey Cup Team racing event, the 2025 event on 24th May will again be sailed in DF95’s.
