Does anyone know where you can purchase a starter system, or an APP that can be used with a blue tooth speaker.

I use the AMYA start file on my smart phone  - link the phone to the speaker.

We use a shorter 1min version for informal club racing to keep things moving faster.

We have a custom built starter, which is based around an Arduino board. As back up we bought one of these and use the AMYA countdown on a micro SD card which plugs in.

I know of one being developed by a fellow member - phone app + BT speaker. I think it'll also have buttons to announce things like 'Black Flag'.

I think he said he expected it to be ready for Beta testing etc in matter of weeks/months - I know nothing about the 'commercial' side of things.

I've not seen him on these forums, but if I have his contact details somewhere I'll let him know about this thread.

we upgraded to current technology last year, to date, it has served us very well, loud, clear, and waterproof. you can either play via a tablet or from the device

The Huntingdon RYC speaker is easy to use, press hold one button and it fires up! It’s loud and clear. Come and hear it in April at the IOM open!

If you would prefer an English voice, there are always the files on the MYA KB https://www.mya-uk.org.uk/kb/start-countdown-recordings/, which have two different 2 minute countdowns.  One of these has a "musical" introduction leading into the 2 minutes.  Both could potentially be amended and reduced down to a 1 minute countdown if required, using an audio editing App such as Audacity.

In Australia Red Ant Yachts has been selling custom made start boxes for RC yachts recently which have been adopted by many of our clubs across the country and recently used at our National Titles across many classes.
