Is there anything to say that you can’t switch hulls midway through a race series? I’m imagining going to an open meeting with two hulls, one tuned up and ready to race with an A rig, and the other tuned up and ready to race with a B rig. Both would carry the same sail number.

You must use the same hull throughout a particular regatta. However, should you sustain damage which stops you participating with your yacht on the day, the RO can ask the fleet for their permission to use a different hull or appendage should you have them.

For a series of different events, you can use different boats as long as you start and finish with the same hull per regatta.

It is prohibited to change your yacht mid way through a regatta just because the wind speed has changed.

Thanks for clarifying that, John. I do find it a bit odd, though. DF95s are one-designs. Surely you would just be swapping one hull for an exact replica?

Yet I think you can change your rig during a regatta, “just because the wind speed has changed”. Correct me if I’m wrong

You can change rigs when the wind conditions change.

However, anything to do with the hull is unacceptable, unless the circumstances apply as previously highlighted.

These restrictions apply across the classes under the umbrella of the MYA and DF Association

The idea is that you “check in” with the equipment you are going to use for a single sailing event. The class rules will state how many sets of each item you may check in for the event. As John says for all the classes I am aware of this is a single hull, or set of hulls for multihull’s , fin, ballast and rudder.

Multiple rigs are allowed in most classes with the number varying.

The reasons for this will be fair sailing and control on costs.

You might wish to read the DF95 Rules here

In terms of your question, look specifically at rule A.10 which states what you are and are not allowed to do when racing at an event.
