  1. Why not put a well reasoned and workable proposal together and submit it at the next AGM.
  2. If the sails do not measure then what is the problem? I would rather have a clubmate tell me than to have time off work and drive miles for the same outcome.
  3. I can’t believe you have no measurers in the Huntingdon club. Get a couple of members to do the course, problem solved. or contact 0ne of the two measurers at Two Islands. take a trip over on a race day and get your sails measured before or after racing. 33% of the active skippers at Lee Valley club can measure sails. Final option You have a member of Huntingdon that sails at Lee Valley most Sundays. You could arrange for your sails to be sent down, measured, and brought back.
  4. As a newly certified sail measurer I do not think you can use just the checklist to verify if the new hull measures the same as its predecessor. It would need to undergo a complete remeasure to achieve a new certificate with a new registration number, in fact the linked check form that you quote only has a measurement for the deck limit mark and the minimum size of the front bumper? Anyway Nigel has given the answer. “A.8.3 Each hull shall have the certification authority’s national letters and sequentially issued unique registration number. Under no circumstances may a registration number be used on a hull other than the hull on which it was first used.”
  5. Plenty of work for the registrar and class measurers coming up then.
  6. I have my own sail number. I was thinking of all the others that now sail printed boats.
  7. What happens with all the DF boats with split hulls do they keep the same numbers. Yes I know they are not an MYA class and have their own rules.
  8. I was just thinking if the Alioth hull degrades or breaks over a year or two and the hull needs to be replaced. Once done and re measured could that hull use the original hulls number or would you have to apply for a new number before measuring as a completely new boat. With the extra messing about of having to change sail numbers.
  9. David, it is not as simple as that. You will need to know the weight required. What is it to go on, long and thin, short and wide, winged etc. I have a raw two part ballast that weighs approx. 10kg along the lines of a Frank Russel design. That I may part with, but I am miles away from you.

    Rule change

I have just noticed this on the January council news "6M class rules to allow older boats to be made competitive in the fleet" What are the details for this please.
  11. Sunday 12th May is a very busy day for the big boats. Shearwater Trophy for 6m Midland District round 2 for 6m Pracc 4 for A Class
  12. How are you getting on with the shirt production Damian.
  13. I used to make these, but it became non viable once all cost of materials started to soar. Quite willing to let you have dimensions and where to purchase parts. I can still 3d print the cradles.
  14. Reporting Committee – Racing Rules Other Committee – (World Sailing use only) Submission: 057-23 Racing Rules of Sailing RRS E2.4 A submission from the Croatian Sailing Federation Purpose or Objective Rule not necessary. Proposal E2.4 Transmitter Aerials If a transmitter aerial is longer than 200mm when extended, the extremity shall be adequately protected. Current Position As above. Reasons Transmitter aerials longer then 200 mm do not exist anymore. They most certainly do, at last weekends A Class Nationals one skipper was using a non 2.4 radio with a nice foam ball on the end. the ball to me was more of a visual indicator to the long aerial than a safety feature.

    Classic R6M

Blast from the past I know, but 9+ years on and still no recognised guidelines for a classic or wooden boat class. Surly the regular open meeting skippers could put their heads together and produce something that works? As most of you know I am a modeller at heart and a lover of wood builds. But equally happy to see a list of early glass boats too. Perhaps 1990 limit on plastic designs so that would include the multi championship winning Renaissance and the Revival from Mr. Bantock, then we have the Lewis Tern and Petrel both from 1990. Add in all the boats built with wood and ply such as the Lewis Siskin and Jewel and Bantock Rococo and Romanza. Then we have the possibility of getting more boats back on the water and new builds being designed in wood. I think that the class should be available at all open meetings not just the once a year Nationals. Your thoughts.
  16. Paul Where do you find the clip on Pot Lids? and also where is the file for the amended neck. Thanks Steve
  17. Sorry just realised they have now retired.

    PRACC 2 - 3

On Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd April, Hampton Court MYC is hosting Rounds 2 and 3 of the PRACC A Class Championship - so don’t forget to get your entries in soon. The sailing will take place on our water, the Rick Pond, which is adjacent to our clubhouse located in Home Park in the grounds of Hampton Court Palace. On both days, homemade soup at will be available at lunchtime and hot drinks will be available throughout the day. There is plenty of free parking adjacent to the clubhouse, which will be open, heated and available all day. Home Park is closed at night, but parking for motor homes is available at Apps Court Farm, approximately 5 miles away www.appscourtfarm.com. We look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible for a good weekend of sailing. Each day’s racing will be run as a separate round of the PRACC Championship and the entry fee is £5 for each day and the entry closing date is Friday 21st April 2023. If you'd like to be a part of it, please see the NoR on the Events page of this site and either enter online or send your entry details to colintrower@aol.com by 21 April.
  20. Nigel You are correct. My favorites are set to the latest news page.
  21. I see this event is under threat of cancelation. Would it not be a good idea to incorporate this into the IOM National championship? Saves on travel and accommodation.

    PRACC 1

Glad to say the above forecast was wrong. couple of spits of rain while packing up and that was it. Wind top suit all day which was nice, although some started the day with skinny mains. I learned from the day that I need more time on the water with the Gunboat getting to know the sail settings for various conditions. As Mike Ewart mentioned you need a year with an A to get to know it. My boat held its own down wind but was slightly down on the beat and unfortunately the reach was only about 10 metres where the Gunboat usually excels. A big thanks to all the race officials and helpers at Woodspring MSC. A very enjoyable days sailing and the drive home wasn’t too bad either. Looking forward to PRACC 2-3 at Hampton Court which is where my boat came from.
  23. Gareth My reasoning on flipping the fin is that the centering pins are further apart making the twisting force on them less. If you need a 10% aerofoil at the top then an 8% at the bottom may work. I am currently 3D printing my fins with a 1mm wall and only 15% infill. This is then vac bagged with two layers of 200gms carbon. The carbon tube is glued in to the fin. I have the option to use a threaded stainless stud and locating pins to make the ballast removable or making the fin and ballast one piece removable from the hull. On my Ravenna (not built by me) the fin and ballast are all non removable which is a shame, making any experiments difficult to say the least. Keep posting pictures of your build please.
