Swing rig / conventional rig sheeting.

Featured Replies

I have my starkers 3 rigs sheeting set the same close hauled but use the TX end point to set the swing rig running position. I guess if I had two main sheet eyes I wouldn’t have to remember to change the end point when switching sails. Does anyone have another way to do it?

I use a different model memory for each rig so all the travels can be different for each rig.  On Spektrums (and some other radios) you have to disable 'model matching' so that you can bind the same receiver to multiple models.

My RadioMaster has a series of 'flight mode' buttons so I can set different trims (e.g. high mode, normal, low mode) on these buttons.  Not many radios have these buttons but there are lots of other ways to get the same effect; such as mixing in a three position switch controlled channel or using the 'idle up' function.

I use a sophisticated radio as I have two winches on my 10R.  The radio allows me to control both winches with one stick for normal use but allows independent control of each sail when I want to.  For example, I can release the main but keep the jib sheeted in if hit by a big gust.  Conversely I can sheet the jib to the centre line while releasing the main to get out of irons or help tacking.

That sounds interesting! I will have a read of my Spectrum manual to see if that helps.  It would probably work if I dedicate a spare TX to the Marblehead but that runs the risk of taking the wrong TX to the pond!

As Have 2 txs I write on the pot lid the name of the boat and the 1st choice tranny, thetrannys are copied but because I have 2 off some of my boats I can lend out a boat and tranny when needec

Sadly my DX6i does not allow the model match feature to be overridden.

With a DX6i, in Helicopter mode, you should be able to use the THRO CUR (Throttle Curve) function to allow you you define the end points both sheeted in and sheeted out, and also the response in between those positions, by switching between STUNT and NORM modes.

Thanks but that doesn’t sound any easier than just changing the sheeted out end point.

Oh, once set up you just need to flick a switch when you change the rig, seems easier to me 🙂
