September 7, 20232 yr Hi David, not an easy one and need a few more details. What material is the mast and the mast stub made of? Do you know what was used to band them together? Cheers Nigel
September 7, 20232 yr Author Hi Nigel These are standard DF95 carbon? mast and stub. There was no lower protection ring fitted, so the mast itself has begun to split a little. I have no idea about what was used to bond them. David
September 8, 20232 yr I used a saucepan on the stove on a "rolling boil"... Be careful it may take a few immersions, and leave it in a while for the heat to transfer to the glue line

September 8, 20232 yr Super glue and fast epoxy will soften up in hot water. However I wouldn't put in to much effort as it's probably easier to start from fresh.
September 8, 20232 yr Author Hi Nigel That did occur to me and have had a look at RC Yachts to see the costs of a mast plus stub. They’re not cheap! I’m relatively new to rc/model yachts, and am enjoying tinkering so, regardless, it’s a learning exercise. Thanks for your contributions David

September 8, 20232 yr Author Not too late! The mast is unglued from the stub. I will look at what best to do with it now. I must make sure that whatever I do does not contravene class rules. I like the look of the site you directed me to and I have saved it. Many thanks David
September 12, 20232 yr If there is no ring at the base of the mast (or the top), then obtain some and fit them to ensure that the carbon does not split again if you do repair it. To give maximum strength you may be best to use epoxy to glue the stub into the mast after fitting the reinforcing ring. To be class legal on both the DF65 and 95, the carbon tube used must be from the manufacturer rather than from a carbon tube supplier and should also have the rings fitted, although by not fitting them the tube will have little strength at the ends.
