Radio Glitches- West Kirby
Some radios are classed as "Park flyer", in my experience they often have trouble at distance and with carbon in particular. Remember it is only the last 31mm of rx aerial that matters, and that should be straight Make sure you haven't got other sailors standing between your and your boat if you are having trouble. In fact anything in the way of line of sight reduces range. Stand as high as possible or hold the tx up high if you are having trouble Make sure your tx aerial is parallel to the rx aerial, this is best for the signal Try to get the rx aerial vertical in the boat to allow best reception. If aerial under the deck then just under deck patching is better than in pot with battery, or under hard decking Try to get the rx aerial above the deck, ideally several inches and with 2 at right angles Try to use rx with 2 aerials and have them at right angles to each other Add a "satellite" rx to give more aerials Use longer aerials on your rx so you can position well, many rxs have aerial lead with a connector so can be (carefully) replaced with a longer one.

Spektrum DX6i AUX Channel Operation
AUX 1 or channel 6 is usually used for DUAL Aileron Wing Type or Flap and so must be enable in the programming menu.Go into WING TYPE mixing and Enable or Activate DUALAILE and you will then have the AUX1 or channel 6 function properly. OR you can use Ch6/AUX1 for 2-position flaps operated by the Flap switch on the front of the Tx by setting up values in "Flap" under the Adjust list. If you don't set these up nothing happens when you use that switch. Lots of stuff online, search for "DX61 aux"

How do I use my Gizmo ?
Hi, thanks. It is all set up and working but it is the 'how to use it' that I'm missing. It looks like there is a Sailsetc doc on this too but it will not open. No one in our club uses one and I know some of the experts just lock it off with a tie wrap as they haven't got the hang of it either. If someone could just tell me if it is basically to be able to make everything tighter when beating OR is it to make everything looser when not sheeted fully in ? then I would be wiser. Cheers, John

How do I use my Gizmo ?
I have bought a secondhand Marblehead that came with a swing rig fitted with what appears to be a Sailsetc Gizmo. It is all fitted and working ... However, I can't find any information online to do with how to set it up lakeside or what the benefits are meant to be. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be most grateful

IOM Gear Guide
As I am currently looking for a lighter jib boom would it be possible to be more specific on the "Easton arrow shaft", there seem to be a lot of different ones available ? Regards, John

Yacht repair recommendation
After my Marblehead was recently run over by a car I found it quite difficult to find places to get it repaired, so this post might be useful to others. The last five inches of my Paradox stern was crushed under the rear wheels of the car of a fellow club member, with a crack extending ten inches up the hull. I kept all the crunched up pieces of carbon and proceeded to find someone to fix it. Anyway to cut a long story short, it has been excellently repaired and I would highly recommend a chat to the guy who did it for anyone in a similar position. Make your own battery packs "Where to buy the bits"?
I use the "Instant" AA and AAA Nimh batteries in both my moulded gliders and now my IOM and Marblehead yachts. Available in ready made packs, or individual cells, from: http://www.vapextech.co.uk/

A tip for cleaning mouldy sails
I bought an old yacht a couple of months ago where one of the sails was quite mouldy and I thought I might have to buy a new sail for it. I tried cleaning it with various things (polish, window cleaner) to no avail. However, my wife had just bought some bathroom mould removal spray, so I laid out the sail on a table, sprayed on the fluid, spread it over the sails with kitchen paper to make sure all parts were wet, waited a couple of minutes, then wiped it off again with more kitchen paper. Then I took it outside and sprayed the whole sail with water to remove any remaining fluid, and let it dry. The results were excellent, a virtually clean sail for no additional expense Please take care of the precautions for good ventilation though. cheers, John
