This sounds like a good solution. I await availability and of course price. I love the simplicity ( it seems?).. You might consider making the speaker optional as we have a pre installed speaker, which hopefully is compatable.

We need to buy a new audio start system does anyone have any suggestions. Looking for 1 minute start sequence hopefully with a pause?

Do I need the pro option to get a start klaxon or beep?? Thanks for you input on this.

Does anyone know of an iPhone based start countdown 1 minute, with idealy 30 second , 20 second and finally 10,9,8---- GO Having the full 60 second count down is too much. Or even anyphone based app

Thanks. You just incentivised me to do it the right way. I have it working at present but when I get a gap in sailing I will do a full reconfiguration of the winch.

Thanks for this John. I am pretty sure the switch signal line will be the method for my RMG 280D. Its amazing how easy it is to do and how had to find what to do. I have in fact used the Taranis channel output settings and managed to get it fairly accurate. It's nice to know that on a cold winters night I can revisit this and set it up as per best way ( this allows the overloaded torque sensors to work as well) . John again thanks for this info. When I asked around very few people have actually setup the RMG as per textbook.

Thank you for the knowledgeable reply I appreciate it. Iam coming to that conclusion. I have a small issue trying to match the final 15% of the stick travel with the travel of the winch. I have a small dead spot when I pull the stick to adjust the sheet... just at the beginning. I am about to try extended servo option on my FRSKY Taranis TX. This will allow an extra 10-1% percent control (I hope) . That's my fun for this evening.. Thanks again

The winch is inside the boat so difficult to access. The 280D does not have a setup wire and instruction's refer to pressing the "button" . I assume the winch has a button to be pressed? am I correct to follow the instructions but as I cannot access this do I have to take the winch out to run the setup process?

Brad I see your set up guidelines says " deck edge used for lower datum point ". Iam taking a steel rule between the two sides of my Britpop and measuring up from there. Is this correct ? appreciate your help.

Regarding vaseline application. As a throw back to full size sailing I am a fan of natural Lanoline rather than Vaseline as it does not thin to much when in the heat ( eg when out of the water). The more water on it, it cools and stiffens, becoming a good sealent. It was used on stuffing glands for old type prop shafts.

This is how |I fixed it . By feeding a thin wire and pullimh through a line with a loop inside the tube , this had the Jib line run through the loop.

On the subject of Older Britpops does anyone have a source for the Plastic press on tops for the POT?

I have just had the same problem. When I looked with a video camera I saw a line crudely tied at an exit hole cut into the tube. I had some very fine springy necklace wire (from Hobby Craft) and threaded that down and out through the hole near the bottom The pulled a line throught and terminated the lower end to a toggle that stopped at the hole. I will look to see what other folks say... with interest!!
