(Rig) Correction Weights

Featured Replies

Do any of the knowledgeable folk know what sort of weight correction is typically needed on B and C rigs, taking A as baseline all-up weight?

If boat is to min all-up weight with A then it needs to be also with B and C. Shorter spars, hence B/C would need some correction.

I probably have a length of 11mm mast I could try to find and to work out g/cm. Got some lead (golf grip) tape which might make up the adjustment, just wondered if anyone already knew the approx typical difference in weights between rigs.

Hi Colin,

A broad estimate, dependent on boom types used across rigs, rigging etc will have you at approximately 20-30grams needed in your B rig and 45-60 grams in your C rig to match your A rig.

Also PJ Sails.

I use this coiled lead, available in Canada. There is room in the 11mm mast to fit two strips side by side- figure the weight, and cut a strip - then cut it in half -may have to tap a bit with a hammer to flatten the lead to get it into the spar.

You may find a similar product in fishing stores in the UK.
