Definition of a 'woodie'
I thought woodies had Andy written on the left boot. Planking always looks good.

Viss Vang
Thanks Brad and all the other reply’s. I just want to sail a legal boat and have fun. I am awaiting a reply from Sailboat RC. I suspect that it will be a long time if ever that I worry the top tier unless I add a motor…..now there’s an idea😃

Viss Vang
Hi as a Newbie to the sport and with technical fitness of a dyslexic octopus All I wanted was a boat that I could feel competitive and not a lot of building to do. The chances of getting a Britpop is slim even after a couple of years waiting. and the obvious but expensive answer was a Viss with all the try it’s complete. Unfortunately I have just been informed that the rigs are now illegal due to the vang giving me an advantage ( that explains why I wasn’t last) so we have to get these changed immediately as having entered all the IOM Comps I could I will now have to cancel. Is there a direct replacement available anywhere although I’m sure Sailboat will develop one in the future.

IOM Club racing Lancs/Yorks
Just keep coming south to sunny Lincolnshire. Cheaper house prices so more money to spend on sailing. I’m sure whenever you end up there will be a friendly welcoming club nearby, A great way to make friends in a new area.

IOM Worlds 2024
Thanks Simon. I just need to learn to sail well although we have some good sailors at Lincoln who really help us newbie’s improve. I was or in theory still are on a waiting list for other models and I feel that’s been the difference with Sailboat RC they obviously run it as a buisness.

IOM Worlds 2024
Hi I actually ordered a Viss while in development so Colin will get a good look at Lincoln. It is my retirement present to myself and is cheaper than the web site suggests depending on what you want. They have kept me informed as they have developed it and started production and their English is better than mine. The coverage of the worlds was brilliant. As a newbie they explained what was going on and why various skippers were doing things.

Why are new IOMs like unicorns
I can’t wait to get going again and as everyone has pointed out Lincoln have a great water to sail on and friendly members we’ll see how long that lasts when they are shouting Starboard at me.😳

Why are new IOMs like unicorns
Hi I have been thinking of joining the sport for a few years having sailed an old Ikon about 18 years ago for a short time. I soon realised that obtaining a a high end IOM is impossible which out a very long wait. I’m sure this puts many people off. I know the performance is down to the skipper but even Lewis Hamilton could drive a Fiat 500 as fast as I could a Ferrari. Surely if there is a demand the licences builders could produce more. In the mean time after a visit to the very Friendly LRSC I now have a DF95 and 65 with my first race this weekend if I can get the super glue off my fingers😀
