April 16, 20242 yr It's taken us a long hard slog to get the calculation and presentation of our series scoring together, so rather than other clubs trying to re-invent the wheel, I am happy to share what we use, our spread sheet follows the MYA best 5 out of 7/ 5 out of 9 events etc... and all the calculations are completed for you, the scores will also calculate to 2 decimal points, which breaks most ties, I can't take any credit for the workbook, this has been produced by the very clever Henry Farley, it will accommodate up to 18 events. Along with Afleet for our bankside scoring this has been a game changer for my admin post racing, clearly I am very happy to share the work book, and if needed can do a very quick zoom tutorial (it wont take long its that easy) you can see our series scores on our web site https://hryc.co.uk/series-results-2024/
November 15, 2025Nov 15 Hi Andrew, we have recently started our new (first time) winter series and use Afleet for bankside scoring and have been trying to get the results onto a home grown spreadsheet with very little success. I saw your post and thought it might be just what we need. We are running a 10 race DF95 series. Your advice would be appreciated

November 16, 2025Nov 16 You can use Afleet for the series as well. Create a new "event" for the series and insert the individual overall results for each round of the series. Change your discards as you require....
November 16, 2025Nov 16 Thank goodness for A fleet, face with paper today, and it was such a shock to go to a paper systemThe use of A fleet has utterly transformed the weekly task of scores, tables and points. If you have not tried it then get somewhere that uses it, teaching others to use it as race officer is easy, and it is not harder than when a number is shouted out, dibbing it on the tablet as in bingo. If someone gets something wrong , it can easily be sorted. For the cost of a waterproof shockproof tablet! Edited November 17, 2025Nov 17 by Stephen B

November 20, 2025Nov 20 Andy Start at Hunt RYC will reply, but I got the impression it was about £100 so not at all unaffordable to a club, and it transforms the way to record and display results!

November 20, 2025Nov 20 Works so well, the majority of club members, if not all can run and record finishes accurately….and takes the pressure off everyone else. You can see half time scores and up your game! https://oukitel.uk/products/oukitel-rt3-tabletOn pre order but it is rugged and safe from drops and water.
November 21, 2025Nov 21 My club use a Amazon Fire Tablet, which requires a little "breathing on" to accept Play Store Apps... It's become easy recently

Showerproof has to be a must, surely, otherwise a risk of occasional problems?I am - as a software engineer by profession - no Luddite, but I am still reserved about A Fleet for my club. I've no doubt I could use it, but at the end of the day my feeling is still "everyone can use a pen and paper"...It's interesting to hear the wider experiences tho. We now find that any member can easily score the race, and that if they have an issue, it's very easy to reorder the finishing order when a mistake has been made or duplicate entries dealt with... It's a third of the job it was with HMS and Excel not to mention the club costs of laptop and Excel vs the £3.50 lifetime licence for A Fleet and the price of a tablet...
November 23, 2025Nov 23 ALL ages in our club can run a finish, which is what you want, the older ones are better as they play more Bingo. DAB the number as. You hear it called out. We would never go back to excel spreadsheet!

November 28, 2025Nov 28 Watch my dinner at bingo !!, faster than a pen and paper.try on and see….Stephen
November 28, 2025Nov 28 Being a realist, or pessimist - take your pic lol - I think to the things which can and do throw a spanner in the works sometimes. Plain 'finger trouble', a cluster of boats as Darin mentions, a boat fouling after cutting the line and subsequently refinishing. Of course A Fleet allows for corrections, but you gotta at least have pencil n paper handy to jot down what needs correcting?Fortunately it's just sailing, not life n death, tho try telling that to three dozen 'enthusiastic' TT skippers if there's ever a hitch or delay.....😆All personal/local/club preference of course - people, facilities, budget. November 28, 2025Nov 28 Finger!! or you can use a dibber pen, and score. Fast if not faster than writing down numbers. If you have not tried one then try it it changes your scoring processes completely Stephen Edited November 28, 2025Nov 28 by Stephen B
