50 years this year since the first Radio Marblehead Nationals
Derek Good to meet you and all the other competitors. My first National so a bit unsure what to expect but under David's guidance got to sail single handed on Sunday. Taken on board a few little pointers for next time if I get asked to run the board. As keen to take on guidance to help me improve or what others find work for them just the same situation as wanting tips for my sailing. Possibly top on the list is ear plugs if staying at Datchet 😂

RMG winch queries
Also are you powering it through the RX or direct to the winch as I believe the latter allows it to draw more power if required. Think there is a connection diagram on here search for RMG hopefully you can find it.😀 Telemetry RMG is where you'll find this.

Swan like at National
OMG helping out at Marblehead Nationals under the guidance on David running the board got a day's training then over to you tomorrow. Board all setup for start. Like a Swan all calm but below the water a great deal of work goes on to make events happen. But all part of learning curve I thought be able to watch how it should be done but glad to get back to work for a rest 🤣 Nice to meet other skippers from all over the country.

Up Marblehead
Myself and my Up looking forward to the Marblehead Nationals at Datchet. I am helping with the event see how it should be done. To good an opportunity to learn from experienced skippers. Plus a weekend staying onsite destress from normal mainly work related issues. Hopefully the weather is kind to us all and everyone enjoys the event 😊

DF95 rudder post fitting (replacement/damage)
Some people have put a plastic drinking straw which I thinks takes up the play in the rudder assembly. Saves the potential of damage to hull removing the old rudder fittings. 🫢

Up Marblehead
Finally got around to fitting sails but I only have two swing rig sets of sails I think A & B1 🤔 so if anyone has any others others gathering dust pm me 👍

Purchase Advise for Newbies
Tiggy_Cat Sorry I only heard one-sided of the story. Like you said transportation in a small car can be done but removal of the keel & bulb is recommended. Plus possibly wrapped in a blanket to protect it. Please accept my apologies. The fact you replaced the winch suggest you wanting to help beginners.

Purchase Advise for Newbies
Hi Mark sorry to hear you have been left with a bit of a 🍋. I have found the people involved in this hobby the totally opposite to your experience. Like John says contact them see if a compromise can be achieved. What did you get? Maybe see if anyone at your local club can help with repairing it 😃

Battery access DF95
In the long term you maybe causing yourself more problems by not allowing the hull to dry out this might mean corrosion on electrical connections. Get a plastic cover then use insulation tape to secure. The failure of winch or rudder could mean premature end to a day's sailing. If terminal with added cost.

Battery access DF95
You have an On Off switch 95's not very power hungry so why modify? Like you state none standard so I would think outside the rules 🧐

Radio sailing at the RYA Dinghy Show
Good to hear going the extra mile to some new blood into the sport. Datchet team hats off to you guys 👍

Alioth Hull replacement
Maybe slightly off topic but if you register for an event shouldn't it be stated if Mk2 or Mk3 for example as Alioth has both of these 🤔
-
Alioth V3 - Now available
It would be interesting to know how many are on the water? The fleet seems to be growing a game changer in both waiting time and cost.

Up Marblehead
I have spoken to Roger he invited me over a while ago but unfortunately couldn't make it. But hopefully at some point I will get over to sail with him. Add another new venue to my list.

Sunglasses
Looking for what is the thinking on glasse for sailing polarized cuts down reflection but most people tend to have the Amber tint? The more I read different colours have different advantages 🧐

Open Meetings why don't you go?
Already looking at dates for IOM Eastern open meetings so I can hopefully get to as many as possible. Something to focus on see what progress I can make 🤔

RMG Winch Beeping on start up, will not wind
Please can you video the winch on start up first without the transmitter. Do you know what model it is? Keen to get you back on the water so got another boat to chase 🤣

Sheet post stuck
Decided that surgery the only option as the force might damage the hull so the intention is to cut out the old and fit new which doesn't have aluminium so remove the potential for corrosion going forward. Booked in to see boat doctor after sailing on Saturday. Thanks to those who have replied 👍 and a tip 9keep your post lubricated to prevent similar happening to you boat 😃 Another lesson learned about what to look for when purchasing 2nd hand. Might be interesting to see how often the new post gets adjusted over the next year 🤔

Sheet post stuck
After soaking for several days definitely week minimum got thinking about using a battery drill set for screw drive torque set low whilst holding tube inside the boat first one way then other. Thinking better grip on the post and shock of clutch slipping probably a two man job plus very gentle worried 😨 realise potential for as Darin points out to shear OMG

Sheet post stuck
Thanks Peter I got a mastic gun nozzle but more funnel like to be interference fit on the post so that WD-40 is localised. So like you say slow and steady better repeat doses to allow it to do it's job. Also something to absorb any which leaks out. Give it time plus regular dose🫰

Sheet post stuck
On my Slimtel the main sheet post I am reliably informed looks like it's adjustable. But doesn't want to move I was thinking applying local heat from hair drier to post hopefully soften adhesive then using grips or pliers. (Hence the tape) Does this seem sensible or has anyone done it and how did they free it up?

Up Marblehead

The Trade show & Boat Jumble
Thanks to all who put on Boat Jumble very informative definitely worth going. Bill with his indepth knowledge of winches managed to convince me to purchase RMG. His talk also highlighted other little points I hadn't really considered. Hopefully help keep my boats to be more reliable and put faces to names. 😃
