Thursday at 20:563 days The Forum is very quiet. It’s a shame. If not here, where are people going online to chat and discuss the sport?
Thursday at 22:543 days Hi DavidSorry to read about your feelings. You have to presume that most members have lives outside of the sport and this forum. So they are probably busy.Additionally, what I've found frustrating is when someone posts on this forum, you may answer them and then the conversation abruptly stops. No reply of thanks or anything. (It’s kinda rude).Have you tried RC Groups, or the IOMICA Forum. Im sure on FB there is plenty of conversation going on between the groups. Keep smiling.RegardsJT Edited Thursday at 22:553 days by John Taylor
Friday at 21:062 days Author Agreed, it doesn’t take long to type annoyed thanks when advice has been requested and received. I’m trying to work out of the sport is close-knit (and perhaps somewhat ‘closed’), it’s the sport of the solitary individual, or if all the chat and info is shared primarily in the ‘real-world’. 🤔Thanks for replying, John. 👍😁
Friday at 22:482 days David Almost all the information published online would be shared on request across different platforms. You will have some communities keeping information relevant to a certain class, but entirely appropriate for them. However, generally speaking RC topical chats will usually find there way between online groups, sometimes via duplication by different members. Skippers, boat designers and builders will generally share info between us all. JT
Saturday at 19:351 day Agree…. Sometimes it is quiet, all depends on boats for sale, and pre autumn clear outStephenPs less outspoken than I used to be as it says MYA council now! Edited Saturday at 19:361 day by Stephen B Add more information
Saturday at 19:461 day Author 🤣 Council Members should be outspoken too - don’t let the shackles of Office hold you back 😁Hmm… a ‘pre-Autum clearout’?! Sounds interesting!!! Can’t wait!
17 hours ago17 hr The best and most rewarding conversations on just about all subjects from rudder design, hull choice etc are always either held lakeside or over a coffee, all the more experienced skippers will give you time for a chat at a ranking or nationals, most will even take a look at your trim.Forums are great for certain topics but not others, they easily go off subject or alienate you if your oppinion is challenged that can then very quickly just turn you against even looking at them. So, if you need advice on what rx batteries are best, this is the place but if you ask what design IOM is the best to buy you will soon realise a Forum isn't the best place but lakeside maybe.is.There is also the problem on forums of people not using there proper name, a bit like a bank robber using a mask to rob a bank but they don't want anyone to know they rob banks. 17 hours ago17 hr Author Agreed, lakeside is often the best - but that’s not always possible (club hours, other commitments etc).
