May 8, 2025May 8 When the DF65 is about 50 metres approx distance away from the TX8 transmitter I start to get warning signals and the screen reads about 25 for Range. I am not a radio buff but I would like to sail my DF 65 effectivelv and also stop annoying fellow sailors. The boat, TX and matching RX are about 2 years old and the Li battery is charged up. Any help will be much appreciated (particularly if written in simplest possible language).
May 8, 2025May 8 I know nothing about the TX8 or the Deviation software it uses but on my TX16S that I used to use for aircraft I did get a lot of RSSI warnings. people say to do a range check and if all is well turn off the warnings. Hence why I have changed to ExpressLRS and no longer use the 4in1 module for much better range. Do you have to tune a TX8 to the reciever? on some protocols you do with a TX16S. As you are using a boat and not an aircraft I would range check to your max sailing distance plus some and if all still working turn the warnings off. If you actually loose signal, perhaps time to treat yourself to a new radio.
May 8, 2025May 8 I am no expert in radio technology, but here are some possibilities. 1. Do a range check using the instructions for your radio. If the range is poor, there could be a problem with it. 2. Do you point the antenna straight out, pointed towards the boat? Turn the antenna so it is straight up, or set to the side. The radio signal looks like a couple of balloons that emit out from the side of the antenna – and the low spot is straight out the end. 3. Check that the Rx antenna is taped up under the deck as high as possible – away from the fin and battery and leads. If twin antenna, set at 90 degrees to each other. John
