Posted February 13, 20241 yr I was just thinking if the Alioth hull degrades or breaks over a year or two and the hull needs to be replaced. Once done and re measured could that hull use the original hulls number or would you have to apply for a new number before measuring as a completely new boat. With the extra messing about of having to change sail numbers.
February 13, 20241 yr To save messing about with sail numbers, get a personal sail number - all my rigs have the same numbers on them. I think a new hull is going to be a new boat and hence a new hull number - it would certainly need measuring.
February 13, 20241 yr As I see it if you are replacing the hull then that hull number is now defunct so why cant you use that number which you already have on the new hull but the true answer must come from the rebistrar and the MYA TO
February 13, 20241 yr Author What happens with all the DF boats with split hulls do they keep the same numbers. Yes I know they are not an MYA class and have their own rules.
February 14, 20241 yr You are right - my shed contains the fourth iteration of DF65 668! However the IOM is not just a MYA class but an international class and is not one design.

February 14, 20241 yr The IOM class rules provide the answer you are looking for: A.8.3 Each hull shall have the certification authority’s national letters and sequentially issued unique registration number. Under no circumstances may a registration number be used on a hull other than the hull on which it was first used.

As a newly qualified IOM Measurer, Certification Control for a new hull is not a big thing. If you want to see what is measured, this is the hull and appendages check list: Hull and appendages certification control Worth pointing out that there are two processes, Certification Control and Equipment Inspection. The latter is done at major events...
February 16, 20241 yr Maybe slightly off topic but if you register for an event shouldn't it be stated if Mk2 or Mk3 for example as Alioth has both of these 🤔

It would need to undergo a complete remeasure to achieve a new certificate with a new registration number, in fact the linked check form that you quote only has a measurement for the deck limit mark and the minimum size of the front bumper? Anyway Nigel has given the answer. “A.8.3 Each hull shall have the certification authority’s national letters and sequentially issued unique registration number.
