I race a 'full size' keelboat every weekend here in Beaumaris and have been looking at the possibility of racing IOM's as a winter pursuit, however my nearest club is Birkenhead, which is a 140 mile round trip!

I Just wondered of there was anybody else in the same boat (forgive the terrible pun) ? maybe an opportunity to either share cars or the possibility of setting up something closer to home.

All suggestions welcome

Several years ago we used to race on Rhyl marine lake, RM Nationals there in 1988? or at Llanfferfechan (not sure I've spelt that correctly)

Tim Long at Abersoch has a couple of IOM's  and John Brierley at Llandudno also has an IOM

Hope this helps.

You’re welcome to sail with us at Gresford Sailing club although we are not much closer than Birkenhead and we tend to sail DF’s with only a couple of IOM’s.

There is a lake at Eirias Park near Colwyn Bay but I believe they are mainly power boats.

Saturdays we race the 65 but due to the dinghies sailing in the morning we are limited to a 2.00 start. We race the 95’s on Wednesday and this is the best day as we have the lake from 10.00 with racing starting at 12.00. If you want to call on a Wednesday mate let me know and you can sail my 95. Hopefully you’ll improve my race record.
