Darin Ballington Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 Who is thinking of going to this, and where are we staying? There appear to be two towns/villages close by.
Derek Priestley Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Hi Darin, I'm considering it as I see that this is the 20th running of the Marblehead WC, and I & J.C. were at the first at Gosport in 1975!!! I've kind of had permission from AM. and I think that nice Mr holiday offered me a boat, so I could be on the ferry ranking points permitting!! Haven't yet looked at accommodation.
RobVice_GBR41 Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 CJ and I have sent in entry forms. Chris H also going and has found Airbnb.
Ollymurray88 Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Hi darin since purchasing a Marblehead I do too fancy going down and having a crack at it but I’m in the same boat as Derek p as I don’t know if Iv made the spot for rankings. Cheers Olly Murray
Roy Stevens Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Hi Darin, I have sent James entries for the M and 10r so hope to get places.
Darin Ballington Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Great folks, entries need to be in shortly and hopefully every one who fancies it will get in.
Chris Harris Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 I've put my form in. I looked at air bnb close by and also on the coast. All look good.
Bill Green Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 I’ve played golf in this part of France we based our selves about 10k inland from St Gille and it’s a lovely part of the country. Easy to get to Portsmouth to St Malo (overnight) and Cherbourg to Portsmouth back. About 160k to site and nice easy roads.
Olivier Cohen Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 It's really a great place to sail, you will enjoy it (except one direction which obviously will happen during the event !) If you want to stay longer in France (or come back in this great country !) , the week end after (May 8/11th) there is IOM FRA Nationals in Valenciennes. 2
Derek Priestley Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Allocation of places. Guys, I've just looked at the website for these Worlds, and adding up the total list of names it comes to only 64 of the permitted total of 78. This includes a large number of FRA entries looking for a place at "Stage 4" of the process. 2 of us, Olly Murray & I are very reluctant to start booking ferries and accommodation until we are notified that we have a place which may be in Feb less than 3 months from the event. This sort of thing happens at almost every international event. So, is there anything which can be done to make the process smoother and easier for the competitors? Derek.
