April 25, 20242 yr A basic query. So your boat is running and should be goose winged but the main is all out and the jib is hovering over the centreline. So what’s the answer? Too much tension in the jib forestay and maybe jib downhaul to? I’d love to read your opinion! Thanks Simon
April 26, 20242 yr May be needs more weight on the jib boom counterbalance weight - or pull it out further without extending over the bow.. John

April 26, 20242 yr Mainly I would say you are sailing "too low" luff a degree or two. The jib is being blanketed by the main
April 26, 20242 yr Author No, this is when running so the jib should flick out. To be honest I don’t think I’m quite square to the wind but then other boats are goose winged around me so I must be there or thereabouts?
April 26, 20242 yr and being thereabouts is a fine line. 2 or 3° difference in your course down wind versus the boats around you, can make the difference between a perfect goose wing and a flapping jib.
April 26, 20242 yr no way is it forestay tension! It's solely the course you're sailing relative to the wind.
