** PROPOSAL **

Proposal from the 36 Class Captain to either keep the rules as they are or to vote to follow the proposal from the MYA Technical Officer.

If the class votes to keep the rules the same nothing more needs to be done.

If the class chooses to change the rules to follow the MYA TO’s suggestions, I will need support from 5 helms from 5 different clubs, and will have to put it to vote again.

Proposed rule change question, please choose one answer:

A: Keep the existing 36 Class rules 

B: Vote to change the 36 Class rules to MYA TO updated rules

Where can "MYA TO updated rules" be found?

With only two options to vote for I find that I cannot vote for either as both existing and proposed rules have errors and require changing. I believe that we (the Class owners) need a discussion to cover two very distinct topics. 1) Do the present rules require any changes? and 2) If so do we adopt the Standard Class Rules (SCR) format as suggested by the MYA TO or do we stay with our current format and update the content.

The MYA TO has identified some parts of our existing rules that require updating and he has made suggestions in his preferred format (SCR) and only with positive feedback from ourselves will he move his position.

The more 36 owners that get involved here the greater the chance of ending up with something that works for us all. It is simply unfair to leave it all to our Class Captain, Dave, to sort out so lets hear some more views on what needs to be changed and how we want it written.

In the Technical Officer's report to the 2022 AGM it is reported that the proposal to 'update' the 36R class rules was overwhelmingly rejected by the class owners group membership.  However a later paragraph by paragraph change proposal circulated by the MYA committee was accepted, but only be a small proportion of the total 36R class owner group and therefore failed to become a valid proposal for change.

I can remember being invited to vote on the initial proposal by Dave Kent (and voted to reject the change)  but I can't remember being invited to participate in the second paragraph by paragraph vote.  How was this second vote promulgated to the 36R class owners by the MYA committee?

I didn't get invited to vote in the 2nd vote either.  I have a registered Vane 36.

 

I wasn’t contacted either, and no one has asked for the 36 class mailing list from me!
