Trevor Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 (edited) Rob sent me the two sound files that identify which E model winch revision you have so I thought I would post them in case anyone else finds them useful. The left tone Is E Rev 1. The right tone is E Rev 2. Cheers Trevor Erev1.mp3 Erev2.mp3 Edited December 19, 2021 by Trevor Sound file ID
John Ball Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 HI Trevor, That's great as the sound files on the RMG web site would not work for me. I have saved them on my computer. However, which is which REV. John John BallIOM CAN 307 (V8)In my private capacity
Trevor Posted December 19, 2021 Author Posted December 19, 2021 Whoops I didn't spot that the file names wouldn't be visible! I have edited to show Rev 1 left and Rev 2 right. Actually if you right mouse click to save as, you can see Erev1.mp3 and Erev2.mp3 at the beginning of the file name. Cheers Trevor
John949 Posted December 20, 2021 Posted December 20, 2021 The other thing to watch out for with older winches is the BEC voltage. Some of the early ones had a 5V 1 amp BEC, which is a bit marginal for a lot of rudder servos. The later ones are 6V 3amp. To find out simply measure the voltage on the plug that goes into the receiver. If you have a 5V one then you could use an external UBEC (I do) like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254604123135?hash=item3b47969bff:g:ap0AAOSwGKRbN0kN You wire the UBEC direct to the battery and the output plugs into the receiver, but you must cut the red wire from the winch to the receiver (do this in a servo extension lead if you don't want to butcher your winch).
