November 18, 201411 yr Hi Guys and Gals, I am looking to change my twin winch set up to 2.4 ghz from 40 meg and I only have a single stick transmitter, how do I set up the connections and can they be rigged on a DX6i to allow me to give some trim adjustments to the jib winch, next how do I cope with the 2 BEC lines on the 2 Whirlwind winches
November 19, 201411 yr Set Mix A 14Set Mix Gain 100%Set the Endpoint, Centre and Reverse as normal using the setup menuConnect Main sheet to CH1 ( Throttle )Connect Jib sheet CH4 ( Rudder )The Main and Jib now works on the left stick - Up / Down The Jib works only on the left stick - left /right The Trim on the Rudder works the JibThe Trim on the main works the Main and JibWorks ok on my old DX61You can simply plug the two BEC lines into the receiver - The two voltage regulators will simply work in parallelOr if you really want to cut one of the RED wires
November 19, 201411 yr I read somewhere that you use the V-tail programming function - look in the manual for your radio (DX6i is page 42 and 43). Then set one of the channels to servo reverse, so stick down brings in both ch 2 and 4, and stick up move them both out. John
November 19, 201411 yr Author Thanks Dave and John,I will set to and make the adjustments, I was a little worried about the cut the red wire because when they are defusing a bomb it is always the red wire that they shouldnt cut. But seriously I was totally boggled by it all too many wires and winches and I still wanted to use the adjustability of the twin set up on 2.4 gig so many thanks
November 19, 201411 yr Author Dave been having a try excuse the ignorance but dont understand mix A 14 I am using a new Spektrum DX6
December 4, 201411 yr Mike and I have spoken since this so the explanation is for others that might be interested Mix A - refers to any free mixer, on the Spectrum DX 6i they are numbered 1,2.. So choose MIX 1 for example in the role down menu.Set it to INT - initialised rather than through a switch - you will see it when you get there then in the menu select the Throttle to mix TO the Rudder ( Mode 2 assumed )Every manufacturer is different in detail but the result and procedure is the same.If you bought a cheap radio .. there are no Mixers and neither is there Exponential adjustment ... never mind .. there are a few days left to Christmas I do hope this helpsDave
December 4, 201411 yr Author Hi Dave, thanks for that I got the explanation on Saturday but it is nice to have it written out for those of short memories (me)
January 22, 201510 yr Author Further to twin winch set up on my A boat, using two whirlwind winches, have done it quite easily on DX6i and can adjust travel on both from the transmitter, also have a further control in that can let off jib without changing main by using the second stick. Thanks very much Dave A your instructions work great
