Really nice f/g hull, albeit slightly tubbier design than current models, mast and booms with quite nice wooden keel and rudder. Very nice set of A rig sails and a brand new Abel winch servo. Not bad for £70. Should make a decent club level IOM.

We had 6 older IOM's on the water yesterday and they are all pretty similar really speed wise so it makes for fun sailing and that's really what its all about.

Once it stops being fun, it's time to find a different hobby!
April 28, 2025Apr 28 Having bought an unnamed Tony Abel IOM yesterday, I was pleased to find this topic and especially the picture of the unbuilt Mallard, as that hull and the deck cut-outs look exactly like my newly acquired but well worn example. I shall refer to it as a Mallard until someone tells me it isn't!

May 7, 2025May 7 As promised, here are a couple of photos taken in the garden this morning. I have a couple of rigs for the yacht, but both are quite tatty and I hope to replace them once I've made sure that there are no other problems with it. The rudder & keel have been removed to make storage easier until I can get around to sorting it out. Edited May 7, 2025May 7 by David E Smith typo
