Looks quite crude by what we expect now but I see you've got a rig in there, presumably top suit so I'm sure it will be great when built!

-Received the kit this week end and very pleasantly surprised. Really nice f/g hull, albeit slightly tubbier design than current models, mast and booms with quite nice wooden keel and rudder. Very nice set of A rig sails and a brand new Abel winch servo. Not bad for £70. Should make a decent club level IOM.

Sounds like you can't go wrong with that! We had 6 older IOM's on the water yesterday and they are all pretty similar really speed wise so it makes for fun sailing and that's really what its all about.

Indeed. Once it stops being fun, it's time to find a different hobby!

Having bought an unnamed Tony Abel IOM yesterday, I was pleased to find this topic and especially the picture of the unbuilt Mallard, as that hull and the deck cut-outs look exactly like my newly acquired but well worn example. I shall refer to it as a Mallard until someone tells me it isn't!

Any photos?

If you mean my lucky purchase of a Tony Abel (probably a Mallard) IOM - I'll try to take some tomorrow.

As promised, here are a couple of photos taken in the garden this morning. I have a couple of rigs for the yacht, but both are quite tatty and I hope to replace them once I've made sure that there are no other problems with it.

The rudder & keel have been removed to make storage easier until I can get around to sorting it out.
