Df65 jib and main booms rubber rings.

Featured Replies

Nearly all of the rubber rings on the booms have perished.  Any idea what can be used to replace them and how do you fix them ie glue etc.

Probably your best bet is to put an order in at RC Yachting for genuine bits. I did something similar last week but I asked my fellow club members if they needed bits - keel box seals, rudders, anything really and I put together a decent order and split the postage equally between those ordering.

Yes thank you.  I was trying to avoid stripping the rig down.

Ah, yes, I can see thats a consideration, especially if you've CA'd sheet fixings to the booms.

Good luck!

Hi Clive, the genuine rings as I recall are silicon (the black ones).  I've found that you can stretch them successfully over boom fittings.  Open up the hook at the clew and release the sail, use something like a tiny watch maker's screwdriver to ease the rings over any of the rigid eyes.

Model aircraft silicone fuel tubing.  (Standard thin wall, not the thick walled variety)
Buy a foot, it'll last you a lifetime for less than £2.00.
No need for glue!
