February 28, 20242 yr A question - does anyone modify their hull to be like the 65 so that the battery can be fitted adjacent to the fin box and sealed with a small patch instead of having to lift the main hatch and replace the tape every time? Or is that against the class rules?
February 28, 20242 yr You have an On Off switch 95's not very power hungry so why modify? Like you state none standard so I would think outside the rules 🧐

Like you state none standard so I would think outside the rules 🧐 It’s just that I charge my battery the night before sailing and pealing back a small patch is fine and a patch lasts 6 or 7 weeks if not more but the patches for the 95 are such big things and it seems pretty pointless to have to lift the lid every time. I don’t lift the lid on my 65 unless there’s an issue with the contents there under.
February 28, 20242 yr In the long term you maybe causing yourself more problems by not allowing the hull to dry out this might mean corrosion on electrical connections. Get a plastic cover then use insulation tape to secure. The failure of winch or rudder could mean premature end to a day's sailing. If terminal with added cost.
February 28, 20242 yr Author Very true, I know the winch and rudder servo aren’t waterproof and I also know that black wire disease is more likely in a damp environment but I normally leave the battery patch on my 65 pealed back and there’s never condensation on the inside of the clear cover so I think they’re pretty dry boats.
February 28, 20242 yr Author It’s clear isn’t it - you can’t alter the boat as supplied so no battery access holes allowed. That’s that then!!
February 29, 20242 yr The DF rules are closed rules, so anything not expressly permitted is not allowed.
March 5, 20242 yr I don't use a cover-all patch on my 95 - just the plastic 'lid'. Tape round the edges is cheap n easy.
