John Arundell Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Anyone on here know where I can get hold of mini boats and "buoys" for rules coaching sessions at my Club?
Downbytheriver Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 Depends how mini you want but the usual source is Elvstrom explains the racing rules - plenty of old editions on eBay, just make sure the copy still has them - example - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/126254592927?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=3AYnHIqjRDG&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=uO_yALY3QR-&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
John Ball Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 (edited) I did a google search for RRS protest kit and got several suggestions eg https://optistuff.com/shop-mclaughlin/boat-class/multi-class/magnetic-protest-boat-kit-travel-set-10-pieces/ There used to be a set of boats included in the Paul Elvstrom Explains the rules of racing https://www.nauticalmind.com/69392/paul-elvstrom-explains-the-racing-rules-of-sailing-2021-2024/ I made up a home made set cut out from corrugated cardboard -each boat was about 6 inches long -- insert a split pin to hold a strip of card for the boom, and glue fridge magnets on the back for use on a white board. I also have a smaller set, cut of of thin ply, and inserted a bent nail to be the boom - paint multiple boats in different colours. I made several bouys made from cutoffs of wooden dowel. John Arundell Posted January 11, 2024 Author Posted January 11, 2024 Thank you all. I have purchased a "Protest kit" now.
