November 14, 20232 yr I am new to the sport not really sailed before in my first year. Enjoy IOM sailing but struggling with how to get boat setup others seem to be able to see sails not trimmed correctly. Just printed off and laminated artical Sail Trimming by Roger Stollery which looks very good. Please can anyone recommend any other sources that can help me get my head around 'What Good Looks Like' 👍 Hopefully then I can have that Eureka moment when it becomes clear. 🧐
November 14, 20232 yr Stephen Take a look at the following web site:- https://www.nigelbarrow.co.uk/ Look at Nigel's own pages, however under the useful web sites there is a lot more information on setup from other sources. Regards Eric
November 14, 20232 yr Author Thanks Eric I had a look and started my list of what I want to achieve and steps to help me get there. His website is a great source of information all in the same place. Got me looking at things in a different way 🙂
November 14, 20232 yr Bob Sterne published a very useful guide to the sequence to follow for setting and adjusting trim called "The Tuning Cycle" accompanying a long article on how to trim/tune/race which was very comprehensive. Also Brad Gibson has done extensive videos on "How to" on You Tube.
November 14, 20232 yr Author Thanks John going to print Bob's guide much prefer to have a hard copy especially laminated good for the lake side. 😀 I doubt would have found it myself.
November 14, 20232 yr Stephen The Ian Vickers Guide is a U-tube video is a how to guide to tuning an IOM. It is obviously aimed at V9, V10 etc. but a good view. Eric Link:-

November 16, 20232 yr Stephen, before I acquired a Britpop a web site I regularly visited as there are plenty of photographs of setup was:- https://dawsong8.wixsite.com/jgsails/tuning-tips I used this information to find a setup for a Barry Chisam Psycho. On the same site there is information on building a rig. Regards Eric
