Mast Ram
After David passed away his Fatboy mould went to Doncaster MSC who were planning to use it to make some Club boats for new members and Club level racing. (be interesting to know if this was ever progressed) Cheers Laurie

KingMax SW22HV Sail Winch
Morning Neil I bought the 61g winch from the Component shop about 3 years ago to replace the winch in my Tonic (the boat I was sailing Thursday) and had a similar problem. I don't recall at the time them saying that I needed to buy a separate digital programmer. I ended up just fitting a slightly larger drum and set the end points to max and managed to get enough travel that way. I'm pretty sure Tony B bought one for his Gadget a bit after me, might be worth having a word with him on Thursday see if he had the same issue and how he got round it. Alternatively have a chat with the Component shop as I notice they now say on their website for the 61g winch:- 'As default the sail winches are now supplied pre-programmed to 6 turns (assuming standard 1ms - 2ms transmitter pulse) we can supply them programmed to whatever you need but you must contact us before making the purchase to let us know, otherwise the standard 6 turn sail winch will be shipped. We previously shipped the sail winches as they were received from the factory, which sometimes were set to around 2 turns. If you need one of these earlier supplied units to be reprogrammed, we are happy to do this, just get in touch with us for more details' Cheers Laurie

The old days…. Naive question but relevant for moving forward
Our Club Measurer has not been on the sail measuring course so can no longer measure IOM sails. I don’t think he woke up one morning and forgot how to use a tape measure or suddenly lost the ability to interpret the IOM class rules on sail sizes, nevertheless (and to use Brad’s words) he was ‘culled’ or at least until he goes on the course, but (and as others have said) why should he give up a day of his time to learn how to do what he was already perfectly capable of doing and indeed accredited to do? I have a few sets of IOM sails measured and signed by him, I guess I can happily use those at any open meeting but were I to get a new set of identical sails from the same supplier tomorrow I’ve now got to chase round the District to find one of the few ‘qualified’ measurers before I can enter an open meeting with them. It doesn’t seem to me that much thought was given to the impact on the grass roots membership of the MYA of this change. Why on earth are MYA measurers having to go on an RYA course designed for full size boats in order to measure sails for our model boats? I may not have been paying attention but I don’t actually recall seeing anything that explained any of this to the MYA membership. I’m assuming there must have been a very serious problem with the previous MYA measurement process to require such a change. What exactly was broken with the old system - the words sledgehammer and nut spring to mind Perhaps someone could point out the MYA communication where this change was explained to the membership. Just my thoughts FWIW Laurie

Chat Open AI and Racing Rules
Don't know if anyone else has tried this, but out of interest I thought I'd copy and paste a few of these Racing Rules scenarios into https://chat.openai.com to see what it says, the responses from the AI are surprising. Worth a try on a rainy afternoon if you have nothing better to do!

Hold your Course
Hello Erick Thank you for posting this, they do say a picture is worth a thousand words, but you really should have introduced yourself on Sunday, it would also have been lovely to meet Doris. Coincidentally my good friend Dave was racing too, you could have taken the opportunity to say hello to him. Kind regards Laurie
